As far as we know there isn’t any jelly of the gelatine kind involved, nor an actual pool, but the free Jelly Pool Party series at Brooklyn’s Williamsburg Waterfront has taken care of all of your (other) Sunday needs. Grassy knolls right by the East River? Check. Weekend bevvies? Check. Dodgeball? Check. Crazily good band line-ups for zero dollars? Hells yes.
The Jelly Pool Parties belly flopped into a sea of hipsters and other onlookers four Sundays ago, with Mission of Burma, Fucked Up, Ponytail and Jemina Pearl opening the flood gates for the series. And now every Sunday until August 30 will feel like a Saturday, in the sense that you actually look forward to the last day in the week (as opposed to being in pre-Monday denial). Behold the line-up for the remainder of the weekends:
09/08 – Simian Mobile Disco (DJ set) , Fiery Furnaces , Dark Meat, The Netherlands
16/08 – Del the Funky Homosapien, Gravy Train!!! , DD/MM/YYYY, Kenan Bell
23/08 – Girl Talk , Max Tundra , Wiz Khalifa
30/08 – Grizzly Bear , Beach House
Crazy? We thought so too.
