According to their MySpace URL, the three-piece group Lemonade sounds like bananas and ecstasy. Or, as band member Ben offers, “Lemonade sounds like taking a swim under a waterfall.” Since either one is pretty sweet, you know you can’t really go wrong with this Brooklyn-by-way-of-San Francisco outfit.

Word has it that the rumblings of Lemonade started way back when Ben, Alex and Callan met at a casting call for a children’s singing and dancing show. Shortly after, the trio started making the warped hypercolour sounds that they are now known for. And the truth of the matter is this: Lemonade outputs a sonic boom that will make you do either the crazy legs or the funky chicken whether you like it or not, shimmying into the cowbell section of a delirious dance music orchestra. And to attest to that is their self-titled six-track album, which came out on the venerable True Panther label last year.

Since coming together Lemonade has also already played with Sebastien Tellier, El Guincho, Tussle, Telepathe, and Glasser. “We like playing with bands that make people dance,” Ben says. “We’re very excited to play with our friends Delorean and These Are Powers in the near future.”

So what is happening exactly in the near future for these three gents? “An EP, an album, more remixes, more touring, tropical climates, escaping the winter, a reality show, an energy drink,” says Ben. Not bad, Lemonade. Not bad at all.
