Berlin, situated in the Northern area of former-East Germany, is positively (b)rimming with creative excursions this week. Here are a couple of our picks to help any of you out there wash those winter willies (quite literally) away.
1. ILLUSTRATIVE 2009

Contemporary illustrators from around the world are invited to submit their creations to this international forum, serving as a celebration of graphic arts. Illustrations for mediums such as graphic design, book art, comics, concept art, animation and obviously stand-alone illustrative work, are curated into this festival, which is also accompanied by the Young Illustrator Award.
The festival runs for two weeks and consists of a program of exhibitions, films, conferences and of course, parties. Shenanigans kicked off on the 15th of this month, but party on until the 1st of November, so if you are lurking around Berlin, do make sure you pop along and check out what the clever people are doing with their pencils and or mouses.
2. PORN FILM FESTIVAL 2009

If pretty pictures aren’t really your bag, as you prefer something of a more instructional nature, you should be pleased to find that the annual Berlin Porn Film Festival turns its lights on this week, Oct 22, to be precise.
…Not quite sure what we can say about this, as it really speaks for itself (and any tips from the press release on the website is a no-go, as the ‘about’ page is still under construction). There aren’t too many occasions in the year one can head off to a cinema, popcorn in hand and sit back to take in a bit of adult-only erotica, so letting this festival pass by is certainly a missed opportunity indeed.
A couple of titles that have caught our eye whilst we began to pencil events into our Moleskins are: Post Apocalyptic Cowgirls, Space Thing, The Texas Vibrator Massacre, and for the academics amongst us, Pornography & Communism. Part erotica, part educational. You can go and can feel comfortable justifying it to your girlfriend/boyfriend/Mum when they find the ticket stub on your desk.
Melbourne film maker, Anna Brownfield, also gets a showing with her feature film debut, “The Band,” set within the Melbourne rock music community. Oh goodness. We will probably know someone. Awkward.
Finally, if it’s all getting a little hot and steamy but wayyyyy too quiet in the cinema, head outside to the “Air Sex Competition.” Doubt any further explanation is required.
3. FLEETWOOD MAC – Monday 19, 2009
One half of Easy is going to this and is in constant need of going to the toilet in excited anticipation. The other half is not available for comment.
