Tsukuda Hiroki’s Solo Exhibition “Recollections”. These drawings recall, to me, a kind of architectural plans for future space stations. These are Hiroki Tsukuda’s new works, a series of drawings titled “Imaginary Land”, which has been exhibited at one of Tokyo’s hip gallery NANZUKA UNDERGROUND. Just started out with an opening reception held on September 26, the exhibition welcomed viewers with 10 new drawings and a 8-meter-long big wall drawing.

In the exhibition, the 1978-born artist, Hiroki Tsukuda explored a black-and-white parallel world of “imaginary land”. Tsukuda was once color-blinded in his childhood. Since then, he captured things around him with shades and forms, which drastically gave changes to landscapes he saw, depending on the weather and time. The experience plays an important roll on his art work at the present time.

For this exhibition Tsukuda mentions, “it is unknown if I have created fancy world based on the scenery which I have seen unconsciously, or if such world has appeared suddenly in front of me based on my imagination. But I would like to express those fragments of the scenery minced in my head as the memory (recollection).” (taken from NANZUKA UNDERGROUND website) These “recollections” of drawings may remind you of your own recollections of your scenery you have once experienced in your childhood! The exhibition is held until October 24th.
