What’s the next best thing to partying on a luxury yatch? Partying on a Melbourne rooftop – of course! Perched six stories above the streets of St Kilda overlooking Melbourne’s iconic Luna Park, Aussie rockers Kisschasey performed a rousing set to more than 200 hip kids at a private party on Friday night.
By Jessica Hazel Back in the 90’s, when Britpop was enjoying it’s heyday, Camden was the hip kid’s heart of the capital. Nowadays, artists, designers and musicians have all migrated to the edgier East where Brick Lane has become a rat-run of kids in black rimmed glasses and wearing their Granny’s fur coats, all packing out the vast array of over-crowded and costly vintage outlets to bag themselves a nice Arran sweater for winter.
Last Friday, we shot our third seasonal shoot for Mooks and we reckon it’s our best so far. Steve Ryan, our delightful photographer and all-round good guy, did a stunning job at capturing some beautiful shots for you all to feast your eyes on for the upcoming winter 2010 range.
Anna Delany’s photographs have featured in the Mooks Report quite extensively over the past few weeks, and since credit is always owed where credit is due, it’s time to give this New York-based photographer a spotlight of her own. I suspect that Anna has been getting up to mischief for the 24 years that span her entire lifetime, and luckily she’s had a camera around her neck enough times over the years to document her shenanigans. It also helps that by nature Anna is completely fearless, which often translates into incredible photo opportunities and in her hands, images of gold. She’ll think nothing of nonchalantly dropping pieces into conversation such as, “so I think I might head to the Bronx to take some photos of the underground subway lines,” (note: this involves literally crawling down into the subway tunnels, often filled with rats, crackheads and other questionable creatures).
Grunge power-pop band Nancy Hazard, along with four other bands, tore the Richmond Central Club apart in Melbourne on Saturday night. The event marked the first Akolade Enterprises’ showcase gig entitled, Bump’n Grind.
GRAVE DANGER …. The Skene brothers. Malcolm and Ian. Magnum Hi-Fi & Kid Colt. Two dance floor shaking Crazy Kids and two DJs keepin’ it fresh, keepin’ it real and keepin’ it tidy, in that wonderfully messy kinda’ way. It’s all about Double Doses and Electronic Love Affairs.
