AMUTI 23 is a small and inconspicuous shop near Leicester Square, which is filled with an impressive array of cultural ephemera, rarities and doubling as an exhibition space.
The brains behind AMUTI 23 have gathered together 101 special items in time for the Christmas shopping rush to try and encourage people to give gifts which have a little more meaning and value behind them – than your average pair of socks from Marks & Spencers.
The prices range from £10 to £101,000, making the collection accessible to all wallets, but even if you’re not looking to invest in one of the pieces, it’s still well worth a look. Gems of the collection include Reni’s paint-covered hat from the Stone Roses infamous NME cover shoot, a hand drawn gig poster from Sex Pistols, The Clash and Buzzcocks at The Screen On The Green cinema in Islington (which costed £1 per ticket) plus originals by Banksy, Grayson Perry and Leo Fuchs and an excellent array of photos of The Beatles holidaying in India and jumping on beds. If you’re thinking about going along and purchasing yourself a piece of history then you’d best be quick as there were already a few holes appearing on the walls and in the bookshelves.
