The latest Megane Zine 2 will be released in January 2010!

Launched in LA during March 09, Megane Zine is a portfolio-zine that collects works by young Japanese artists. The zine is released by StarGraphics, who work on designs and support young artists throughout Tokyo and the USA.

Megane Zine 1 featured three Japanese emerging artists Anamachy Painting, Yu Nagaba, and Yusuke Hanai. Their works featured across twenty pages along with messages from six well known US artists including, Mike Milles, KAWS, Raymond Pettibon, Ed Templeton, John McCambridge and Alma Allen. Their aim for the zine was mainly to connect young Japanese artists with the US market.

Following great success on the first zine – which had a release party at MOUMENTS in May 2009, that attracted a lot of attention from both Tokyo and LA – the second issue Megane Zine 2 will now feature eight Japanese artists (three are the same participants from the previous issue and five additional emerging artists) with special participating artist Ed Templeton.
With a limited release of 500 issues, each Megane Zine will be numbered and will be released in the USA and Japan. It will also be on sale with an Ed Templeton designed original T shirt “Megane Tee“, exclusively sold at Beams T, Tokyo.

They are planning to exhibit a collection of works featuring Megane Zine 2 artists on January 9th, 2010 at HVW8 Art + Design Gallery in Los Angeles. The artists will be present for the opening of the exhibition. Ed Templeton will showcase his new work at the show!!

Megane Zine 2 featured artists: JUN OSON, Yusuke Hanai, Anamachy Painting, Maya Nukumizu, Yu Nagaba, LY, Hidehito Shinno, Koichiro Takesue, and special participating artist Ed Templeton.
