A Sendai-based internationally active designer as well as an owner of the interior showroom ‘international‘, Koichiro Kimura opened his second showroom “koichiro kimura aoyama” in Aoyama Tokyo in September 2009.
Kimura has developed his own style in working with both art and interior design using lacquerware, a main aspect of Japanese traditional craftsmanship. His new space has opened as the press room as well as a contact place to link his own artwork and national and international companies.
What you will find first would be the gilded pyramid object hung on the white exterior wall of the building. To launch his new showroom, Kimura selected an old house constructed in the mid Showa era (around the 50’s) and renovated it into a shop on the ground floor and a showroom on the 2nd floor, using Kimura’s key colors of gold, white and super pink. From his minimal tableware to avant garde art pieces, all of his creation will be showcased in the space where you can fully enjoy the world of Koichiro Kimura design.
At the showroom on the 2nd floor, you will find the white space made out of 4,000 pieces of white pyramid objects, which portray unreal atmosphere as if you were inside a spaceship for a cosmic journey. In addition to the Sendai showroom, the koichiro kimura aoyama will be a must-visit place to enjoy his cool and avant garde design.
